This isn’t your typical trail mix and granola. Nor are we your average company when it comes to protecting the environment. Each glass jar is filled to the brim with hand-crafted, delicious snack foods, and we can guarantee won’t find anything else like it on Vancouver Island. Here’s why:
Emphasis on Freshness:
All of the generous servings of freeze-dried fruits (apart from the bananas) that you find in our glass jars are grown and picked by certified organic farmers right here on Vancouver Island. The fruits are immediately freeze-dried and vacuum sealed in glass jars to ensure their nutritional value and freshness remains intact. The unrefined maple syrup used in our granola recipes and clusters is sourced from a certified organic family farm just outside of Quebec, while our oats are sourced from organic farmers in Alberta. All of the freshly harvested nuts and seeds within our products are sourced from certified organic, Northern California farmers. You will not find any old, stale, or rancid nuts, seeds, fruits or oats within our jars because once we run out of newly harvested ingredients, we are sold out until the next season! The cacao beans which make up our vegan chocolate clusters are sourced from a certified organic, family-run farm in Peru and are then combined with other organic ingredients in Toronto before being tempered and combined with our signature granola clusters. In short, everything you find in our jars is 100% organic, sourced as close to home as possible, and absolutely delicious!
2. Sustainable Packaging:
We are a zero-waste and plastic-free company. That means that there is no plastic used in the packaging of our products and we have aligned ourselves with manufacturers that share the same values as us. We strictly use reusable and recyclable glass jars to sell all of our granolas and trial mixes in. We also offer a jar take-back program which not only reduces the cost of your next purchase, but also keeps the same jars in circulation to avoid the manufacturing, shipping, and packaging of new ones. We utilize a vacuum-sealing process for our jars, not only for food safety purposes, but because removing the air from your jar will keep your trail mixes and granolas naturally fresher for longer. Using this process also means that we do not need to utilize the addition of plastic shrink-bands around or inside our lids, or other forms of wasteful product sealing. Our labels (including the adhesive) on our jars are made from 100% recycled, and recyclable, materials. We have also reduced our environmental impact by offering local delivery only and removing the carbon output that occurs when shipping products. We deliver our delectable snacks within 8kms of our Moss Street Market stall location every Saturday, between 4pm and 7pm.
3. Supporting Your Local Economy:
When you purchase our products, you aren’t just supporting a small, local, family-owned business, you’re also supporting all of the local farmers and merchants whose passion and hard work is the foundation of our granola and trail mixes. You’re supporting people and businesses who are doing their very best to keep sustainable, environmentally-friendly farming practices alive. Your purchase is aiding all of us in our pursuit to clean up and revive the land we live and work on. We hope you enjoy eating our mixes as much as we enjoy creating them for you!
