Snacking is an excellent means of squeezing in some additional nutrients and protein throughout the day while also reducing the chances of overeating at mealtimes. According to the Journal of Nutrition, "97% of North Americans indulge in snacks, and receive 24 percent of daily calories through snack foods". That being said, it’s important to choose healthy snacks that nourish and energize our bodies, instead of quick fixes that give us a quick sugar high and an inevitable 'crash' later on. Let’s look at some benefits of eating healthy snacks.

Balance Blood Sugar Levels


With a consistent and healthy approach to snacking (especially if you’re consuming the same amount of carbs per snack and meal), you have a much higher chance of maintaining your blood sugar levels.
