At VIO, we are happy to accept your clean, dry, and label-free jars in exchange for a discount on your next purchase! In this blog post, we break down the quickest, easiest and most eco-friendly way to remove the label from your jar(s):
Step 1: Fill a container, bag, or sink with very hot, lightly soaped water (a few drops of natural dish soap or castile soap will do).
Step 2: Add a sprinkle of baking soda to the water (the amount will vary depending on your water level, for this ziploc bag we used about 1 1/2 TBSP of baking soda). Shake or agitate your cleaning vessel to dissolve dish soap/baking soda mixture.
Step 3: Place your glass jar(s) in the hot water, and let it soak for 15-20 minutes.
Step 4: Lightly scrub the label off your jar with a cloth, eco-scrubby, or your fingers! We find it easiest to apply pressure with the tips of our fingers and work the label off slowly (it should slip away from the glass easily).
Step 5: Scrub away any remaining glue residue and rinse well.
Step 6: Let your jar air-dry and bring it with you to our farmers market stall at the Moss Street Market on Saturdays between 10am-2pm and we'll trade you for a discounted product of your choosing! Please note that your jar must be free of any food or glue residue (as pictured below) in order to be exchanged. Thanks for being an eco-warrior and helping to keep the planet clean!
