How It's Made
Each of our unique recipes are tailored around finding a balance between nutrition and satisfaction. Our main priority is ensuring a healthy and delicious snack to enjoy during any time of the day. Knowing we are providing a beneficial and tantalizing culinary experience is why we started this company. With that being said, let’s take a look at how we have accomplished that balance in our products:
Nuts, Seeds, & Grains:
The foundation of each recipe begins with the highest standard of freshness. We obtain as many freshly picked nuts, seeds, and grains as we can through trusted farmers every year around harvest-time, and are committed to proper storage techniques to preserve the freshness and nutritional value of each individual ingredient. All of our ingredients are sourced from reputable, trustworthy, and quality-driven Canadian farmers who are organically certified. It is important to note that while we do our best to source everything as locally as possible, Canada does not have the required growing environment to produce every delicious ingredient our recipes require. Anything we are unable to source locally, we purchase from hard-working Californian farmers we know and trust, who are also organically certified. Once all of the nuts and seeds are ready for harvest, they are packaged and shipped directly to us, where we sample each product (our favourite part!), and begin the dry-roasting process to enhance their already exceptional flavour and texture.
Clusters:
Our signature clusters, which are featured in every one of our trail mixes, are hand-crafted with various combinations of whole grains, seeds, coconut oil, and maple syrup, with vegan chocolate as an exceptionally delicious binding agent. Both the chocolate and maple syrup used in our clusters is made in Ontario, Canada by certified vegan and organic family-owned businesses. Our chocolate is also Rainforest Alliance CertifiedTM. Freeze-Dried Fruits:
This is part of what makes us stand out from other trail mix and granola companies. All of the fruit used in our blends (aside from bananas) are locally grown right here on Vancouver Island, by certified organic farmers. As soon as each fruit is ripe and ready for harvest, we cube and freeze-dry them. If you’re unfamiliar with freeze-drying, it is a process which freezes and removes all moisture from the fruit. Freeze-dried food keeps over 97% of its original nutritional value, which is astonishing in the world of natural food preservation. The uniquely crisp, airy, and flavour-packed freeze-dried fruits are then added to our trail mixes and vacuum sealed to maintain optimal freshness. Nut Butters:
We create a variety of our very own nut butters (which you will find mainly within our granola recipes) from organic nuts and seeds. These are freshly ground in small batches to ensure a high-quality finished product.
SuperButters:
Our SuperButters are made from a combination of freshly roasted nuts and are then mixed with adaptogens and mushroom powder blends. Click here to learn more about our SuperButters!
